Monday 20 November 2023 Wymondham High Academy Community Allotment On Wednesday 15th November, WHACA (Wymondham High Academy Community Allotment) had their third visit from Matt Willer and the Papillon Project. The allotment is coming on brilliantly, now with a clearly marked out border in the form of a pallet fence that the group has made and painted. We have 2 large rainbow beds around the edge, 3 large beds in the middle and three new smaller raised beds. We also have tractor tyre beds and have used some old filing cabinets for further planters. We have enjoyed learning how to use recycled materials to help create the space, whilst helping the environment.

Monday 16 October 2023 My DofE Story by Hannah ‘I don't think I could ever have imagined how far I'd come with the DofE when I signed up for Bronze almost 4 years ago. There was a time I didn't know that I'd even complete Bronze, and a time I thought we might be lost in the mountains of Scotland forever on expedition! But I've been so incredibly lucky and, with the support and encouragement every step of the way from Mr Michie and the DofE volunteers, I've gone from a girl who never spoke to anyone at school to a UK Youth Ambassador sharing my opinions with UK politicians, international emerging leaders and even royalty; not only that but they're listening!

Friday 8 July 2022 Year 7 Experience The Peasant's Revolt The year 1381 embodied many a trial and tribulation for the peoples of Wymondham, as it was the year of the Peasant’s Revolt. A great debate ensued within the peoples of the small market town over whether to join Geoffrey Lister in his local revolt in North Walsham or to stay loyal to the King, Richard II, trusting in the word of Henry le Dispenser, the Bishop of Norwich. Our year 7’s had to decipher which of these individuals they would join via their previous knowledge on the Poll tax and the information of a group of pilgrims staying at the Abbey before embarking to Walsingham. Over the two days of the trip, the year 7s questioned locals of the town, a storyteller, draper, soldier, musician, gunner, builder, jester, falconer and archer.

Friday 22 April 2022 Black Knight Historical On April 22nd 2022, the incredible Ian and Molly from Black Knight Historical set up their replicas of Medieval weaponry and clothes for the A Level History students (and a few extra sixth formers who were equally fascinated!) to test out. With three hour-long sessions, it was a brilliant chance to bring the world of the Wars of the Roses (along with Game of Thrones) to life, and gain an insight into the colours, materials, and battle protection of the period.

Monday 28 March 2022 La Casa de Bernarda Alba Trip After spending weeks in class reading through Lorca’s work, it was fascinating to see La Casa de Bernarda Alba come to life. The intimate stage at the Cervantes Theatre meant that it felt as though we truly were confined within the walls of the house with the family, trapped with the women who were desperate to escape. Seeing the play helped to enhance our understanding of not only the plot, but also how Lorca portrays some of his more socialist ideas through his work. Once the play was over, we headed to Meson Don Felipe, where we shared a meal of authentic Spanish tapas. Voicing our thoughts on the play and our trip so far, we experienced everything from Manchegan cheese to octopus. After a series of unfortunate events on the London Underground, we decided to walk the rest of the way to King’s Cross Station, under the lights of a city bursting with life. Finally, we were on the train back home, laden with overpriced water bottles and enriched minds.

Having not played rugby for two years it was great to see so many pupils attending training during the last two weeks.
