No Big Deal!
On 2nd March we hosted an interactive and immersive performance from Reflex Theatre group – a Norwich based theatre group who specialise in improvisation.
They performed their newest production ‘No Big Deal’ to Year 9 pupils. ‘No Big Deal’ is an hour long performance following the lives of a few young people caught up in substance abuse. During the performance, the audience vote on what decision the lead character makes at certain watershed moments and then gets to see how his story plays out.
After the performance, pupils where placed into groups during which the cast members hosted a discussion about what had taken place. Pupils discussed questions pertaining to the motivation of the characters, the pressures they were under and what they could have done differently.
After this, the audience were able to ask the characters questions, one year on in their story.
The acting and story telling was superb as pupils were engaged throughout the performance, gripped by what might happen to the characters.
But most crucially, the information and knowledge shared by the cast was fantastic; a great asset to aid us as we cover this topic in Comms straight after Easter.
