Points to note regarding our Curriculum model:

  • We offer a broad and balanced curriculum and therefore do not give extra weighting to core subjects as we want the students to have a range of experiences to build key knowledge and understanding and make informed decisions when they move into the second phase of our curriculum model.
  • Students also have a tutorial programme which follows a programme of Personal Development and PSHE curriculum.
  • Options are at the end of Year 8.

  • Electives are in Year 9 to ensure students still have access to opportunities beyond the KS4 Curriculum.  This will ensure we do not narrow the curriculum for students.  Students will elect twice a year for an activity (for example first aid course, BSL course, games, music, drama, allotment, EPQ style project).
  • Tutorial will support PHSE and RPE curriculum for Year 11s for 2024-25.
  • In Year 10, where students are accessing Triple Science, they will gain an extra period of science teaching.  This will be taken from RPE, so they will have 1 period of RPE and 10 periods of science teaching.

  • Students who study Combined Science will gain a GCSE in RPE, so will gain 3 GCSEs from these courses.  Students who take Triple Science will have an RPE entitlement but will not take the GCSE. This will ensure that all students will gain the same number of core GCSEs.
